With the recent Boracay closure that happened last April, surely attention has been shifted to the other islands in the Philippines that similarly offers pristine white sand beach and that “party island vibe” that it is legendary for. Undoubtedly, we have an endless list of alternatives for the former though I’m not so sure about the latter. Hehe.
Perhaps the closest island to fill you in with these would have to be Cebu. Cebu city has its social entertainment with its lively bars in the city too but why settle for that when just a few hour drive away from it be it up north or down south spectacular activities await you? I can’t vouch much for the north but 3-hr away southwest to Moalboal, let’s see. Well, there’s this amazing experience to snorkel/ dive with a school of sardines or to encounter whalesharks further down south to Oslob as blogged here. As mesmerized I was at the first sight of Kawasan Fall’s turquoise waters two years ago, I missed all the action of canyoneering experience because of the closure of activity then.
When I planned our Cebu itinerary (Google sheets is a dead giveaway how OC it was) with the canyoneering activity as the main attraction for last May, I thought it was already very well-thought-out to make the most of our two-day stay in Alegria/ Badian where Kawasan Falls is located. As it turned out, I was wrong and that my research is rated NI (Needs Improvement). 😅 So, below I’m sharing our revised itinerary as organized by our tour guide Kuya Miko.
Day 1
3AM – Early flight to Cebu from Manila
5AM – Arrival in Cebu City
6 AM – 9AM – Bus to Alegria
10AM – 2PM – Canyoneering Activity ( Separate post? I’m still processing video).
2PM – 4PM- Late lunch and rest
When we mentioned during the canyoneering that flying Jenny (the drone) was the primary concern for falls visit, Kuya Miko led us to…
4PM – 6PM Basac Falls (separate post. I seriously can’t find this falls online, lol)
6PM – 8PM Dinner in Badian
At this point, I’d like to mention that the guide booked us by mistake to a lodge in Matutinao beach and not in Kawasan Falls itself (its directly opposite the falls entrance though) where I asked them to. I was toying with the idea of an early shoot since the first level pool is always crowded in the daytime. But Kuya Miko had better ideas coz on our second day, he asked us to wake up at 4am to
Day 2:
5-7AM Sunrise at Osmena Peak/ Breakfast at the base
Of course, how could I resist this and how could I have left out this option? This girl’s always up for a hike! (Again, a separate post.) On the way up the peak, I noticed that we passed through the other falls in my original IT. We simply had to see it after the hike and I love that we were the only visitors then and Jenny flew a lot. Yay!
8-10 AM Cancalanog Falls
10-12 AM Late lunch at Eskapo Verde. I posted about it here.
1-2PM Dip at La Playa Beach
I was thankful that Kuya didn’t book us in Kawasan falls. Who knew there’s also a powdery white sand beach to enjoy here near the falls? Who cares if they’re not famous? Whatever stretch of sand without any other tourists treading on? I’d say that would be my very own patch of paradise.
Go Pro and Jenny footages are not yet processed so for other locations mentioned here, please wait for the next posts. 🙂
