Connectivity as an afterthought. Have you ever considered this? Sometimes when we go on a holiday and appreciate a scenery, we’re so consumed with sharing it to the omnipresent social media (or maybe it’s just me that is so guilty of this oversharing behavior) that we take whatever that is infront of us for granted. Sometimes we think that it’s okay to share one photo first to let others know what we’re doing and before we fully immerse ourselves in the present, we’re already consumed with the views and reactions of who has seen and commented on our post/ story.
I miss the time when I was in Batanes. Okay, to be completely honest, I was just forced to be offline when I travelled because a previous typhoon destroyed the communication facilities there (hehe), but despite not being able to talk about the incredible views infront of me to someone aside from my tour guide because I was travelling alone, it was the most meaningful offline escape retreat I’ve ever had in my life. I feel sad that now they are now proud of having fixed the internet and serving 5G speed of connection there because it’s one of those breathtaking places that require you to be “fully present”. Yes, I did share my wonderful experience when I was back in the city but it was just an afterthought. Not an added value during my travel.
And because recently some things happened that frustrated me in an upcoming travel, I just wanted to relive that experience and at the same time go on a digital detox for 24 hrs as a birthday experiment. Hehe. Mount Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo, Rizal is the perfect getaway for this. I love the concept of the owner’s tree-planting advocacy in this eco resort and I had a relaxing whole day experience just being with nature by myself. They don’t offer wi-fi and signal is weak for some providers though I didn’t get to check because I solely came for that purpose. Hehe. I highly recommend doing this “digital detox/social media detox” once in a while (even when not on a holiday) and you’ll be surprised at the amazing results.
I also took only a few timed shots for blogging purpose with this yellow flowy dress. But if you’re looking for some nice prom-y dresses like this, can I interest you in some selections here?
