“Never run for a bus, train or a man. When one leaves, another arrives.”
I still remember the first time I saw this quote many years ago. Having realized how I’ve done what it says otherwise, I posted the quote in Facebook so that others may benefit from this nugget of wisdom. I also vividly remember how it got an affirmation from an aunt through a “like”. It’s funny how small affirmations like that speaks volume of what I could only surmise as speaking from someone else’s experience.
The reason why I’m bringing this up is because recently there has been a series of events in my life that I can only classify as weird coincidences. Weird because I assume it doesn’t happen to everybody that there’s a point in their lives where men from their past keeps on re-appearing for some reason. We have a better Tagalog word for it – “paramdam”. Like a ghost that would suddenly make his presence felt. Of some sort.

Take for example, bumping into each other in the streets of the business district (not just one, two, or three but FOUR times!). One was in an influencer party I just attended recently (he’s not one and I ain’t one either so what were we both doing there? Lol! 😝 ). The other one who was just married this year (Ok, for the record I don’t stalk exes but this was special case because he’s a very opinionated man and I thought maybe I’d check what he had to say about the fires in Brazil because he’s living there and he didn’t have any posts about it so I got nothing except for the fact that he just tied the knot). Or maybe I got something because shortly a few weeks after that, he sent the usual “How you’ve been?” all the way from São Paulo. All of these happening in the recent few months? It’s just the weirdest of all.
Was the universe testing me if I’m stupid enough to get back with them? I kid. Perhaps, the best way to make sense out of it is to remember the lessons each one brought me and focus on what I really want. Because going back to the lesson about the trains, these trains weren’t meant for me and there’s a reason why they left. And by doing so, they did me a bigger favor than I could ever have known.
My ending question though, must the roll call be completed before the “next one” arrives? (I think there are just a few left haha!)
