Thank you for the trial run, January. Can we unsubscribe now, please?
Tuesday morning, I was scrolling down my wall on the way to work when I saw the article from NY Times about Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing. I was like, wait? Didn’t I just like spend the whole Monday with this news on my timeline? And then it hits home, oh posted yesterday. But of course, Facebook algorithm! I took to Twitter to rant about how this feature is such a “genius” idea in times like this. Yes, in times like this when people are curious about cases of corona virus monitored here in the Philippines and old articles keeps on bringing back to the surface causing utter confusion.
Seriously Facebook, HOW?
But then again you realize how this glitch in technology is just a tip of the iceberg in world’s problems. It’s only the starting month of the decade and we could barely cope up with devastating news of wildfires, scare of volcano eruption and as mentioned panic-evoking new virus. Can we already unsubscribe to January, please? Sigh.
For the usual drill, here are the links I deemed worthwhile sharing this week.
Singlehood/ Dating. Catfish. I’ve just recently discovered this online dating word which I was a victim myself lately. For the uninitiated, catfishing is the act of pretending to be someone you are not online, in order to lure someone you’ve never met into a relationship. There was even a documentary about it too made in 2010! For someone who’s a very online person, I wonder how this escaped me. But if you’re interested in it, here’s the link to the documentary.
Anyways, maybe it’s from my own personal experience or watching too much You on Netflix but I’ve just helped an uncle’s friend in the US reveal the true identity of the Filipina he’s been online dating (and worst, sending money to). I meant the real name of the woman she’s pretending to be. The internet is not a safe place kids. Let’s all be careful.
Cooking. Ricotta/ Spinach Stuffed Shell Pasta. This type of shell pasta isn’t actually available in the Philippines (atleast from where I usually shop and couldn’t find online as well). But I had my eye on this recipe for so long now so I asked my friend in the US to buy it for me and personally deliver during his visit. Hehe. Here’s the pic of my version.
Travel. How to be a Kinder Traveler. While safety hacks during travel is paramount and some cost-saving would be nice, I truly believe this is of equal importance too.
Fashion. Fashion Critic’s Critic’s Choice Award critiques. A what? Lol. I think we could all use some lighting up and FC’s critiques are high-larious. She also had an album for the Grammy’s but I never liked a single outfit there anyway so I’m only linking the acting awards album here instead.
Podcast. Creating Content in a Snapshot World. It took a podcast for me to realize that I’ve been following Krystal of This Time Tomorrow for 10 years now. Give it a listen for some awesome insight from a content creator. My takeaway is that: Anytime you create from a place of passion, readers gravitate to it.
For this week I decided not to post too much links since I know most of us are already busy monitoring updates of different news and for some, mourning. Also, since sometime before I hinted about bringing back a classic theme here in CAS which is the #ThreeWayThursday, I’ve decided to post the 3 ways I recently styled my latest favorite black midi dress. Love and light to all as I end this post. <3
